Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Memester handles information when you use the web app, scanner, creator portal, and related Android app experience.
Information Collection and Use
Memester stores account information for registered creators, including username, email address, password hash, email verification status, admin status where applicable, and account creation dates.
When creators add memes, Memester stores the meme title, optional year, optional description, QR token, uploaded audio, optional uploaded image, ownership information, set information, and timestamps.
When a QR code is scanned, Memester looks up the linked meme and records aggregate scan information, including scan count and the latest scan timestamp for that meme.
Camera Permission
The scanner requests access to the device camera only to detect QR codes. Camera frames are processed in the browser or app WebView for scanning and are not stored by Memester.
Email and Account Messages
Memester uses email to send account verification, password reset, account deletion, and administrative test messages. Email delivery is handled through the configured SMTP provider.
Local Caching and Offline Use
Memester uses browser storage, local storage, and a service worker to cache app assets, meme metadata, audio, and images for faster loading and offline playback. You can clear this data through your browser or app storage settings.
Third-Party Services
Memester does not use advertising or third-party analytics scripts. The app may connect to YouTube when an admin or creator imports audio from a YouTube URL, and it may link to Google Play for Android app installation.
Data Sharing
Memester does not sell personal data. Account data and uploaded media are used to provide the app features and may be visible to admins for moderation, support, and account management.
Data Retention and Deletion
Creator accounts and uploaded memes are kept while the account is active or until they are deleted by the user or an admin. Users can request account deletion from the account settings page. Account deletion is scheduled after 14 days unless the request is cancelled or the account is accessed again.
Children’s Privacy
Memester is intended for general audiences, events, games, and creator-managed use. The app does not knowingly request personal information from children without account registration or creator/admin involvement.
Security
Passwords are stored as password hashes. Administrative and account forms use session-based authentication and CSRF protection. Uploaded media is served through controlled media endpoints.
